Illinois Awarded $6.8 Million Grant from the U.S. Department of Labor
The Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) announced today Illinois has been awarded a $6.8 million equity grant from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). The grant will allow IDES to better understand and address equity gaps within the state’s unemployment insurance (UI) system.
Lake County Workforce Development Department to Receive 2022 Service Provider of the Year Award from Lake County Coalition to Reduce Recidivism
The Lake County Workforce Development Department has been nominated by the Lake County Coalition to Reduce Recidivism to receive the 2022 Service Provider of the Year Award. The award is set to be presented at the Coalition’s 19th Annual Fundraising Event on Friday, October 7, 2022, in Wadsworth.
2022 Summer Youth Employment Program Recap
The 2022 Lake County Summer Youth Employment Program recently wrapped up another exciting summer as 165 youth gained meaningful work experience while earning a paycheck. Funded by the Lake County Board, this program was offered in a hybrid format this year with an option for youth participants to partake in the traditional model working at a physical location or to participate in an online Work Readiness Bootcamp.

This includes individuals or families who are living in shelters, living outside, or temporarily staying with family and friends.
ComEd Encourages Illinois Students to Apply for College Scholarships of Up to $10,000 Each
ComEd today launched its Future of Energy program, which will provide up to $250,000 in scholarships for women and minorities pursuing STEM degrees in college. Today through March 28, 2022, students in Illinois can apply for the scholarship program, which will provide financial assistance awards of up to $10,000 and a chance to intern with ComEd.
