Our Board, along with the Lake County Workforce Development Department, were honored to be recognized by the Lake County Chamber of Commerce earlier this month as we received the Business Impact Award. This award acknowledges the valuable service workforce development provides throughout Lake County in support of business growth via exceptional work with employers, job seekers, and community partners to strengthen and meet the employer demands of today and industry talent needs of tomorrow.

The Lake County Workforce Development Department received a special recognition from the Lake County Board honoring September 2023 as Workforce Development Professionals Month.

The Workforce Partners of Metropolitan Chicago are soliciting proposals from qualified contractors and individuals to work with the regional Workforce Development Boards and workforce partners to perform staff functions, coordination of action plan deliverables, project planning, regional planning and meeting and event planning.

Workforce Development Department is seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable individual to join our team as the Workforce Development Board Coordinator. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating board activities related to workforce programs, compliance, strategic planning, communications, business relationships, and board meetings. If you are passionate about workforce development, possess strong organizational and communication skills, and have a desire to impact and make a difference within Lake County we encourage you to apply.

For his above and beyond efforts as an automotive services teacher at Lake County Tech Campus, Jack Wilson was named a LifeChanger of the Year in front of hundreds of students and their parents Thursday evening. Though the presentation happened during the Tech Campuses' annual awards night, when the campus community gathers to commemorate the school year and honor exemplary students, the news that he'd won was surprise to Wilson.

This video highlights how Lake County Workforce Development is using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to expand engagement and outreach to local businesses and job seekers while providing job seekers with work experience opportunities and occupational training. The goal is to address skills gaps and to improve the economic standing of local employers and residents.

To expand opportunities for youth workers across the nation and improve their employment outcomes, the U.S. Department of Labor has selected the first nine communities and their associated partners in its Youth Systems Building Academy. Lake County has been selected as one of the communities.

Applications for the Summer Youth Employment Program will be accepted from Tuesday, March 1 to Saturday, April 15. This popular program, funded by the Lake County Board, will provide meaningful work experiences in various worksites for approximately 160 young people this summer.

The Lake County Workforce Development Business Services team, via a virtual event, discussed the State of the Workforce in Lake County. Topics covered included: industry insights, emerging trends, challenges impacting local employers and workforce, and upcoming events and initiatives.
