First Statewide Apprenticeship Expo Held in Elgin

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, the first Illinois Statewide Apprenticeship Expo was held at Elgin Community College on November 16, 2023.

The event convened industry experts from various statewide traditional, non-traditional, and pre-apprenticeship programs. Lake County Workforce Development and the Job Center of Lake County participated in the Expo alongside the Illinois Department of Human Services Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Illinois Department of Employment Security, Illinois workNet, and Elgin Community College.

Employers attending included AON, Zurich, Openlands, Walgreens, CVS, TalentFirst PBC, UNITE, and Illinois Rural Water. Colleges offering apprenticeship programs included College of DuPage, Elgin Community College, Harper College, and City Colleges of Chicago.
