Summer Youth Employment Program 2022 – Application Period Now Open
The Chicago Coalition for the Homeless Mutual Aid Fund will provide one-time emergency grants of $500 to more than 100 individuals or families experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless. This includes individuals or families who are living in shelters, living outside, or temporarily staying with family and friends.
ComEd Encourages Illinois Students to Apply for College Scholarships of Up to $10,000 Each
ComEd today launched its Future of Energy program, which will provide up to $250,000 in scholarships for women and minorities pursuing STEM degrees in college. Today through March 28, 2022, students in Illinois can apply for the scholarship program, which will provide financial assistance awards of up to $10,000 and a chance to intern with ComEd.
Lake County Workforce Development Appoints Medline Human Resources Vice President Sandie Tran to Board of Directors
Ms. Sandie Tran, Human Resources Vice President at Medline, has been appointed to the Lake County Workforce Development Board of Directors. In this role, Ms. Tran will assist the Workforce Board in its collaboration with key partners and stakeholders to lead performance-driven and innovative strategies that develop, align and integrate the region and local area’s job-driven workforce development system.

New Resources Available for Adult Education Instructors and Students
As a result of intentional partner integration meetings, the College of Lake County, Dist. 113, and Dist. 120, all key Adult Education partners of the Job Center, recently participated in the creation of two informational videos: an introductory tour of the Job Center, and a guide to job interviews customized for ESL students.

Lake County Partners Proudly Receives Excellence in Economic Development Award From IEDC
Lake County Partners has won a Silver Rank from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) for its new website and groundbreaking Workforce Ecosystem partnership (co-led by Lake County Workforce Development, the College of Lake County, the Lake County Tech Campus, and other stakeholders), designed to fuel business growth in Lake County, Illinois. The honor was presented to the organization at an awards ceremony held during the IEDC Annual Conference.
2021 Summer Youth Employment Program Recap
The 2021 Lake County Summer Youth Employment Program recently wrapped up another exciting summer as more than 191 youth gained meaningful work experience while earning a paycheck. To qualify for employment, youth must be age 14 to 18 or age 14 to 22 with an Individualized Employment Plan (IEP). Funded by the Lake County Board, this program was offered in a hybrid format this year with an option for youth participants to participate in the traditional model working at a physical location or to participate in an online Work Readiness Bootcamp.
